Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Support Services and Property Management staff at each THC residential property to plan, organize, facilitate and/or implement supportive social, life skills activities and events that enrich tenants’ lives and foster positive communities.
  • Maintain a list of all on-going activities and events planned for tenants in THC Permanent Supportive Housing.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers to ensure all supplies and food for on-going and programmatic activities and events are ordered, purchased and/or received by the proper staff at each residential property. This includes driving THC’s truck to shop for, pick up and deliver supplies.
  • In collaboration with the Support Services Managers and Case Managers, manage the support services community events budgets to ensure spending is sustainable and effectively used throughout the fiscal year. Ensure that all protocols are followed when making purchases.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external organizations and partners that provide activity related services to THC, such as the San Francisco Food Bank and other partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive list of resources (employment, education, social service agencies etc.) available in the community for residents’ benefit.
  • Ensure that all external organizations and partners that provide activity related services to THC have appropriate agreements and other documents, such as insurance certification, in place prior to commencing services at THC.
  • Provide training and appreciation events for tenant volunteers that assist with on-site Food Pantry program and other activities.
  • Participate in and/or lead activities within THC and in collaboration with partner agencies that build professional capacity and enhance working relationships.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant organizations and individuals, with an emphasis on providing on-site services to residents and the community.
  • Organize and develop various workshops to include life skills/social skills, new tenant orientation, and overdose prevention for Support Services implementation at each site.
  • Spearhead the Annual Tenant Appreciation Day planning in collaboration with other THC departments. Respond to all phone messages, tenant/client requests, staff requests, and emails as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of tenant/client records and concerns.
  • Attend all meetings as scheduled and participate in meetings as requested.
Essential Qualifications
  • High School degree or equivalent required; BA/BS degree preferred.
  • Must have experience working effectively with diverse, low-income, homeless and/or formerly homeless populations.
  • Activity coordination, event planning and/or volunteer coordination experience.
  • Experience in leading and/or developing training and workshops.
  • Must have valid California Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Must be creative, enthusiastic and have the ability to engage people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be extremely organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have an ability to complete paperwork accurately and write business correspondence.
  • Must have demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must have an ability to read, understand, and apply language from manuals, policies, technical procedures, and instructions.
  • Must have demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Must pass all post-contingency offer background checks, reference checks, and TB screening clearances.
  • Must read, communicate orally, and write in English.
  • Experience working in non-profit or public sector preferred.
  • Understanding of a Harm Reduction model preferred.
  • Knowledge of San Francisco resources preferred.
