Job Title: Activities Assistant - PRN

Location: Baker Place Senior Living

Department: Activities/Recreation

Reports To: Executive Director

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Activities Assistant to join our team on a PRN (as needed) basis. The Activities Assistant will support the planning and implementation of engaging activities and programs for our residents, enhancing their quality of life and promoting social interaction. This role requires a compassionate individual with a passion for working with diverse populations, particularly the elderly or individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist the Activities Director in implementing daily activities and special events that cater to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Support residents in participating in scheduled activities, ensuring they feel included and valued.
- Prepare materials and set up for activities, ensuring all equipment and supplies are available and in good condition.
- Engage residents in conversation during activities to foster connections and lift their spirits.
- Document resident participation and feedback on activities for improved program planning.
- Provide one-on-one support for residents who may require additional assistance or encouragement to participate.
- Help maintain a safe and clean environment during activities and events.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the overall well-being of residents and to address individual needs.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Be flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and resident needs.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; degree or coursework in recreation therapy, gerontology, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with the elderly or in a recreational setting is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to residents, families, and team members.
- Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and carry light to moderate loads (up to 25 lbs).
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities for prolonged periods.
