Amoroso Wellness at York in East Meadow, NY is seeking a positive activities assistant to lead and support resident events. You will plan, deliver and assess engaging activities that fit residents' needs, managing logistics and safety. You will communicate with residents, staff and volunteers to create enjoyable, safe experiences.

The role is part-time, requires reliability, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to resident well-being and recreation. In-person work with flexible shifts.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.
• Implementing activities that accommodate those with special needs.
• Handling logistics to make the event possible, such as making phone calls, advertising, managing inventory and budgets, training and motivating volunteers or employees, and coordinating transportation.
• Observing participants at events gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.
• Keeping records regarding event planning resources, participant interest, and other notable information, such as injuries or behavioral incidents.
• Reporting medical concerns or observations.
• Ensuring that events are well-provisioned, the event staff is trained and prepared, and that the event takes place on time and within budget.
• Providing participants with instructions for the event.
• Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.

We are looking for a positive, compassionate activities assistant to work with residents during scheduled activity events. The activities assistant will handle the daily logistics and make an effort to engage residents. They will speak to residents to get feedback, and deliver fun, and safe events while on time and under budget. You should be detail-oriented and possess excellent interpersonal and time management skills.

To succeed as an activities assistant, you should strive to stage entertaining, engaging activities that will appeal to the age and physical or emotional condition of the residents. You should be observant, driven, creative, and caring.

• 4-8 hour shift
• Day/Evening shift
