A leading healthcare facility in Goodyear is seeking an Activities Assistant to engage residents in meaningful activities, support quality assurance efforts, and assist with documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a high school diploma. Responsibilities include planning activities, maintaining records, and ensuring a clean environment, contributing to a positive experience for residents.
Participate in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities. Assist in maintaining effective communication between employees at all levels, residents, their families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs and best interests of residents, the community, and the facility. Engage in community planning aligned with the facility's interests and the needs of residents and families. Assist in developing the monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records.
Support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in developing and implementing corrective actions for quality deficiencies as directed by the Activities Director. Contribute to discharge planning, and the development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments. Help arrange transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharges.
Assist in creating a monthly activity schedule that includes outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents. Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities such as hobbies, crafts, and reading, providing materials like Braille or audiobooks as needed. Assist with documentation, including assessment records and quarterly progress notes as assigned by the Activities Director.
Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and security of the Activity Department. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Visual acuity to perceive colors, depth, and focus.
The work environment is typically low to moderate noise. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
