Job summary

Shenandoah Manor Senior Living Community in Shenandoah, PA is seeking a compassionate Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing team. The role focuses on facilitating resident activities, ensuring emotional and social well-being, and supporting the Activities Director with events.

The position is part-time with requirements for alternating weekends and holidays, providing opportunities to contribute to a caring community and promote resident independence and engagement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Shenandoah Manor Senior Living Community is seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our skilled nursing facility in Shenandoah, PA.

The Activities Assistant conducts activities for residents under the direction of the Director of Activities and helps ensure residents' emotional, recreational, social, and spiritual needs are met.

Schedule

• Part-Time
• Every other weekend and holiday required

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including writing letters, making phone calls, registering to vote, and other personal activities.
• Assist with maintaining records of resident progress and activity attendance.
• Assist with mail delivery and escort residents to activity programs.
• Help with flower and plant care, pet/fish care, and preparation of the monthly newsletter.
• Assist with fundraising activities and making morning announcements over the PA system.
• Conduct activities that provide entertainment, social interaction, exercise, relaxation, and opportunities for residents to express their creativity.
• Provide craft supplies, materials, and equipment and supervise residents during craft activities.
• Encourage residents to participate in crafts, painting, and other activities that promote socialization and independence.
• Support the Activities Director with special events and programs as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous long-term care experience or experience working with the elderly or individuals with disabilities is desirable.
• Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with residents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
