We are hiring an Activities Assistant to join our creative and passionate recreation team at Cape Heritage in Sandwich, Massachusetts!

As an Activities Assistant, you will assist the Director of Therapeutic Recreation and/or Memory Care Program Coordinator in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the Therapeutic Recreation Department to ensure ongoing activities that meet the interests and well-being of each resident.

Experience & Education:

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Preferred: at least one (1) year experience in an Activities Department in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical facility.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and providing patient care by visiting residents regularly to evaluate needs.
• Document and report significant findings to the nursing department.
• Report all reportable events immediately per policy.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities that stimulate their potential physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
• Spend duty time with residents rather than staff.
• Assist with and follow through on establishing resident care goals within the therapeutic team framework.

Specific Requirements:

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to make independent decisions when needed.
• Ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, families, visitors, and agencies.
• Knowledge of the Privacy Rule and compliance with privacy policies.
• Patience, tact, cheerfulness, and enthusiasm.
• Willingness to incorporate new methods and principles.
• Ability to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
• Participation in continuing education and training.
