Job summary

South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Rockland is seeking a dedicated Activities Assistant to join our creative recreation team. This full-time role focuses on coordinating and running events and activities, building relationships with residents, and tailoring programming to their interests.

We offer weekly pay at $16 per hour, 8:30a to 4:30p, with an every other weekend rotation. A high school diploma and at least 1 year in an Activities Department are preferred; we can train the

Responsibilities

• Assist with resident care goals within the therapeutic team framework.

We are hiring a full-time Activities Assistant to join our creative and passionate recreation team at South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Rockland!

Weekly pay at $16 an hour. 8:30a to 4:30p and includes an every other weekend rotation.

Experience & Education:

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• As a minimum, one (1) year experience in an Activities Department in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Help coordinate and run events and activities programming.
• Build relationships with residents and learn about their interests to tailor programming to their desires.
• Organize group and individual programming.
• Generate ideas that will excite and encourage residents to participate in programming.
• Encourage residents to take part in activities that will stimulate his/her potential, physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
• Assist with and follow through on the establishment of resident care goals within the framework of the entire therapeutic team.
• Document and report any unusual or significant findings.
• Report all reportable events immediately.

Specific Requirements:

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
• Must be knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and ensure all staff comply with facility privacy practices policies and procedures.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing policies and procedures.
• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
• Must participate in continuing education and inservice training.
