General Purpose:
Plan, organize, and direct a program of activities that provide entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression, fulfilling basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs for all residents of the facility. Assist individuals with physical, emotional, and cognitive impairments and their families in exploring appropriate leisure pursuits.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior experience in a resident activities program in a healthcare setting preferred
- Completion of a state-approved training course or willingness to complete one within six months of employment
- Excellent creative and communication skills
- Ability to work with individuals with cognitive, physical, or sensory disabilities
- Knowledge of how an Activity Department functions in a nursing facility
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for activity programs in long-term care facilities
- High energy and enthusiasm with outstanding interpersonal skills
- Experience working with volunteers and developing volunteer programs
- Ability to organize, document, and implement detailed programs
- Genuine care and interest in elderly and disabled individuals in a nursing facility
- Compliance with Resident Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures
- Ability to perform work tasks within physical demand requirements
- Perform essential duties as outlined above
