Allure of Mendota is looking for an Activities Assistant to join their team!
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- A valid CNA license/certification.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Activities Director in creating a monthly calendar of activities, written in large print and posted prominently for residents and visitors.
- Ensure a copy of the monthly calendar is placed in a prominent spot in each resident’s room.
- Interview residents or family members to obtain activity preferences.
- Coordinate and assist residents in getting to activity locations within the facility.
- Assist in conducting scheduled activities to promote residents’ physical, social, and mental well-being.
- Document resident activity participation and ensure all progress notes are descriptive and reflect the resident’s response.
- Observe and report changes in resident mood, behavior, or involvement to the Activities Director.
- Involve residents and families in planning activities when possible.
- Assist with in-room activities for residents benefiting from one-on-one visits.
- Coordinate and arrange offsite trips and transportation as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth daily operations of activities.
- Assist with Resident/Family Council meetings as needed.
Additional Assigned Tasks
- Treat all residents with dignity and respect, promoting their rights.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulations, establishing a culture of compliance.
- Follow safety and hygiene protocols to protect residents and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of protected health information.
- Report noncompliance, breaches, or allegations of abuse or neglect promptly.
- Participate in safety drills, trainings, and emergency procedures.
- Report injuries and follow infection control policies.
- Complete required training and skills competency.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the activities department’s quality assurance program.
- Organize and maintain supplies and equipment.
- Complete administrative tasks and reports as required.
- Refer residents or families to social services when appropriate.
- Participate in budget development with the Administrator.
- Attend care plan meetings, QAPI committee, and mandatory training sessions.
Personal Skills and Physical Requirements
- Effective communication skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to stay calm under stress, be resourceful, and demonstrate leadership.
- Organized, efficient, and computer literate.
- CPR and first aid certified.
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Supportive team player with decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrate tact, patience, and professionalism when interacting with residents, families, and staff.
- Capable of physical movements such as bending, stooping, and lifting.
- Meet health requirements, including immunizations and physical exams.
- Available to work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Able to assist with emergency evacuations.
- May be exposed to physical hazards, infectious diseases, and air contaminants.
