Job summary

Magnolia Care Centers is seeking a Creative Activities Assistant at Lafayette Center to help plan, organize, and direct a program of activities that entertains, exercises, relaxes and expresses residents while meeting psychological, social and spiritual needs. The role supports the Activities Director and interacts with residents and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Activities Director in creating a monthly calendar of activities written in large print and posted in a prominent location that is visible to residents and visitors.
• Ensure that a copy of the monthly calendar of activities is placed in a prominent spot in each resident’s room.
• Interview residents or family members to obtain activity preferences.
• Coordinate and assist residents in getting to activity locations within the facility.
• Assist in conducting scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well‑being of residents.
• Document resident activity program attendance and ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and describe the services provided and resident response.
• Observe resident mood, behavior, and degree of involvement in facility activities and report changes to the Activities Director.
• Involve residents and families in planning activities when possible.
• Assist with conducting in room activities programs for residents who benefit from one‑on‑one visits.
• Coordinate activities needs with other departments to ensure daily activities run without interruption.
• Assist with Resident/Family Council meetings as indicated.
• Assist the physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individual and family to explore avocation/leisure pursuits.

Lafayette Center is seeking a creative Activities Assistant to assist with Planning, organizing, and directing a program of activities, which provides opportunity for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression and fulfills basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs, to be available to all residents of the facility.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assistthe Activities Director in creating a monthly calendar of activities written in large print and posted in a prominent location that is visible to residents and visitors.
• Ensure that a copy of the monthly calendar of activities in placed in a prominent spot in each resident’s room.
• Will interviewresidents or family members to obtain activity preferences.

• Will document resident activity program attendance and ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative, descriptive of the services provided, and indicate the resident’s response to the service.
• Observe resident mood, behavior, and degree of involvement in facility activities and report any changes or concerns to the Activities Director.
• Involve residents and families in planning activities program when possible.
• Assist with conducting in room activities programs for those residents who benefit from one‑on‑one visits.
• Will coordinate activities needs and requests with other departments in a courteous and timely mannerto assure that daily activities can be performed without interruption.
• Will assist with Resident/Family Council meetings as indicated.
• Assist the physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individual and family to explore appropriate avocation/leisure pursuits.
