Job summary

The Gardens at Stevens is seeking an Activities Assistant to enrich residents’ lives through engaging recreational activities under the guidance of the Director of Activities. The role covers day shifts with every other weekend and holiday requirements, and offers both full-time and part-time opportunities.

You will support residents with social, emotional, and creative activities, help with tasks like writing letters and voting registration, and maintain records of participation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in long-term care or working with the elderly or disabled is desirable.
• Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the emotional, recreational, and social needs of residents are met on an individual basis.
• Assist residents with everyday tasks such as writing letters, making phone calls, and registering to vote.
• Maintain accurate records of residents’ progress and participation in activities.
• Support activities such as mail delivery, escorting residents to programs, plant and pet care, preparing newsletters, fundraising efforts, and making morning announcements.
• Facilitate creative activities, including crafts, painting, and other projects that promote self-expression and engagement.
• Carry out programs that foster entertainment, communication, relaxation, and opportunities for residents to explore their creative talents and fulfill social, psychological, and spiritual needs.
