Job summary

Forest Park Nursing & Rehabilitation seeks an Activity/Recreation Assistant to support the Activity Director in assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing recreational services for the center’s residents. You will help develop and deliver programs to promote engagement and maintain functioning levels.

This role emphasizes facilitating group and individual activities such as arts/crafts, outings, religious and educational events, and other recreational opportunities while ensuring safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with coursework in recreation is desirable.
• Experience in leading recreational activities is desired.
• Completion of a state approved activity-training course is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and delivering activity/recreational programs to promote engagement and functioning.
• Maintain precautions/limitations list on each patient.
• Encourage patient participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, outings, religious and educational activities.
• Perform miscellaneous work assignments as required.

The Activity/Recreation Assistant supports the efforts of the Activity/Recreation Director in the assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing of activity/recreational services to address the individualized needs and interests of the overall patient population within the center.

• Assists in the development and delivery of activity/recreational programs to promote the patients' opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels.
• Maintains precautions/limitations list on each patient.
• Encourages patient participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities, intellectual/educational activities, community/center service activities, recreational activities, etc.
• Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.
