Job summary

Vernon Health and Living in Wabash, IN seeks an energetic Activity Aide to bring joy, purpose, and connection to residents. You will plan and lead group activities, support special events, and build meaningful relationships with both elderly and memory-impaired residents.

The role requires a warm, patient personality; you will adapt activities for dementia, document participation, and work weekdays with rotating weekends. BLS/CPR certification is preferred or obtainable within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with elderly or memory care preferred; will train right person.
• Warm, patient, and enthusiastic personality.
• Ability to work weekdays and rotating weekends.
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or must obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with group activities including arts and crafts, music, games, and exercise programs
• Provide one-on-one activities for residents who cannot attend group programs
• Adapt activities for residents with dementia, memory impairment, or physical limitations
• Set up, facilitate, and clean up activity spaces before and after each program
• Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, and themed dining programs
• Decorate the facility for seasons and holidays to create a warm environment
• Document resident participation accurately in the activity record
• Escort and assist residents to and from activity programs safely
• Support volunteers and community visitors during programs
• Report any resident behavioral changes or concerns to the nurse

Requirements

• Prior experience working with elderly or memory care populations preferred — will train the right person
• Warm, patient, and enthusiastic personality
• Creative, energetic, and able to engage a room
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or must obtain within 30 days
• Ability to work weekdays and rotating weekends
• Activity professional certification a plus — not required
