Fairport Rehab & Nursing Center is actively seeking two Part-Time Activity Aides to join our Activities Department. This role involves planning engaging activities for residents, maintaining monthly calendars, and encouraging participation in individual and group events to enrich social and cognitive well-being.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults, is organized, and passionate about creating meaningful experiences for residents in short-term rehabilitation and long-term care

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Leisure Studies, or a related field preferred.
• Relevant education, training, or experience may be considered.
• Previous experience working with older adults or in a skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience with Alzheimer’s/dementia or cognitive impairment a plus.
• Basic computer skills including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities for residents.
• Develop and maintain monthly activity calendars for the assigned unit.
• Encourage resident participation in activities, respecting preferences, abilities, and limitations.

Activity Aide - Skilled Nursing, Long-Term Care & Rehabilitation

Now Hiring: 2 Part-Time Activity Aides
Compensation: $18.00 per hour

Fairport Rehab & Nursing Center is seeking two compassionate, creative, and dependable Part-Time Activity Aides to join our Activities Department. Our skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility is committed to providing person-centered care that promotes residents’ dignity, independence, social connection, and overall quality of life.

The ideal candidates enjoy working with older adults, are organized and enthusiastic, and have a genuine passion for creating meaningful experiences for residents receiving short-term rehabilitation and long-term care services.

Schedule: Part-time hours; primarily daytime shifts. Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities for residents.

• Develop and maintain monthly activity calendars for the assigned unit.

• Encourage resident participation in individual and group activities while respecting personal preferences, abilities, and limitations.

• Assist with crafts, games, music, exercise programs, religious services, entertainment, holiday celebrations, and special events.

• Support activities designed to promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, creativity, and emotional well-being.

• Assist residents with transportation to and from activities, including wheelchair assistance as appropriate.

• Maintain accurate activity records and complete required documentation, including attendance records, progress notes, care plan information, and applicable MDS-related documentation.

• Communicate residents’ interests, participation, concerns, and observed changes in condition to the appropriate nursing and interdisciplinary team members.

• Collaborate with nursing staff, rehabilitation services, volunteers, and other departments to support residents’ needs and individualized care plans.

• Prepare activity spaces, organize supplies, and decorate resident and common areas for seasonal events and special occasions.

• Assist with volunteer coordination and facility-wide programs.

• Perform reception desk duties, mail distribution, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

• Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and safe activity environment.

• Perform other related duties as needed to support the Activities Department.

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Ability to learn and navigate electronic medical record (EMR) systems and complete required documentation accurately.

• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

• Ability to prioritize responsibilities, adapt to changing needs, and work independently as well as collaboratively.

• Creative, compassionate, patient, dependable, and enthusiastic approach to resident engagement.

• Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with residents, families, coworkers, and interdisciplinary team members.

• Ability to assist with wheelchair transportation and meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, as required.

• Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
