Job summary

Dunhill Professional Search & Government Solutions is seeking a Backup and Recovery Engineer - Journeyman to oversee enterprise backup and recovery operations in a federal or enterprise IT environment.

Requirements include an active TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship, plus 4+ years of backup/recovery experience and a relevant degree. You will implement backup solutions (Veeam/Commvault/NetBackup), perform DR exercises, and collaborate with IT teams on data protection and continuity planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in IT, Cybersecurity, CS, IS, or related field.
• 4+ years hands-on experience implementing and managing backup/recovery in an enterprise IT environment.
• Experience administering backup platforms (Veeam/Commvault/NetBackup) with DR exercises.
• Strong knowledge of backup storage concepts, retention policies, and capacity planning.
• DoD 8140 compliance and active TS/SCI clearance; US citizenship; ability to work in a federal IT environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer enterprise backup solutions to protect servers, applications, databases, and file systems across the client environment.
• Monitor backup jobs daily, investigate failures, and drive remediation to ensure successful completion.
• Perform regular restore testing and validation for data integrity, recoverability, and adherence to recovery objectives.
• Develop, maintain, and support disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans, including recovery exercises.
• Manage backup storage, retention policies, and offsite media handling to align with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with system and database admins to ensure data protection for critical workloads and new deployments.
• Automate backup scheduling, reporting, and alerting to improve visibility into backup health.
• Conduct capacity planning for backup infrastructure and storage growth.
