Qualifications

• Current City of Louisville Police Corporal in good standing.
• Graduation from an accredited law enforcement training academy.
• Active Colorado P.O.S.T. Certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of POST Certified Law Enforcement Officer experience as a Police Corporal, patrol and/or investigative function.
• Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Business Administration, Management or Public Administration, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Business Administration, Management or Public Administration, or related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Oversees assignment of Officers, Corporals, Code Enforcement Officers; evaluates performance; sets development goals; assists with problems; provides training as needed.
• Engages in on-scene supervision, manages and leads officers in police activities, investigations and services; responds to major calls; assumes command as required.
• Prepares and reviews case information, reports, and warrants; ensures reports are properly supervised and reviewed.
• Reviews officer reports and performance evaluations; educates staff on policy and administrative decisions.
• Recommends trainings; manages field training and officer development; maintains department standards.
• Maintains relationships with other agencies and the public; allocates resources; informs Command Staff of problems.
• Ensures effective communication, interprets and enforces Department Policy/Procedure, Directives, and applicable law.
