Job summary

Central Minnesota Mental Health Center (CMMHC) seeks a Behavioral Health Practitioner: Certified Peer Specialist – ACT for the Monticello team. This role delivers assessment, treatment, education, and supportive services to individuals with serious mental illness.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team providing intensive, community-based services with a focus on recovery, empowerment, and practical skills.

Qualifications

• Peer Specialist Certification or enrolled in Peer Certification Training.
• Mental Health Practitioner status per Minnesota statute (MHP).
• 4,000 hours working with individuals with mental health, developmental disabilities, or chemical dependency (part-time over years or 2 years full-time).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in behavioral sciences or related field with relevant practicum/internship or employment.
• Clear DHS background check and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a role model to peers; demonstrates personal recovery and coping skills.
• Assists clients in developing empowerment skills and reducing stigma through self-advocacy.
• Provides opportunities for clients to practice self-efficacy with activities emphasizing recovery.
• Supports clients’ vocational choices and assists with job applications and interview tips.
• Assists clients in obtaining housing in integrated, independent environments.
