Prestige Healthcare Resources, Inc. (PHRI) is seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist to join the ACT team in Washington, DC. You will provide peer-based recovery support, share lived experience, and help clients engage with treatment and community resources.

The role emphasizes empathy, professional boundaries, and ethical care. Must have DC certification, high school diploma, and be legally authorized to work in the United States. WRAP training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current, valid Certified Peer Recovery Specialist certification recognized for practice in Washington, DC.
• Personal lived experience with recovery relevant to peer support.
• Previous experience working as a Peer Support Specialist or in a comparable peer recovery support role.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook and standard office software.
• WRAP certification, or willingness and ability to complete the required training and obtain certification within PHRI's established timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery-oriented peer support to ACT consumers experiencing substance use and behavioral health challenges.
• Share appropriate personal recovery experiences in individual and group settings to demonstrate that recovery is achievable and encourage hope, resilience, and personal growth.
• Use lived experience responsibly as a therapeutic presence while maintaining professional boundaries and the distinct role of a peer specialist.
• Provide recovery education throughout the recovery journey, including pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.
• Encourage and assist consumers in developing self-advocacy skills related to behavioral health treatment, ACT services, and community resources.
• Support consumers in transitioning from institution-directed recovery plans toward greater ownership, independence, and self-directed recovery.
• Assist clinicians with consumer orientation and help new consumers understand program expectations, available services, and recovery resources.
