The City of Alexandria, Virginia, seeks a Senior Clinical Psychiatrist to lead ACT services, supervise a nurse practitioner, and provide direct psychiatric care in a community-based setting.
Expect detailed evaluations, medication management, and collaboration with the ACT team. The role may include evenings, weekends, and holidays with a flexible part-time schedule at 20 hours per week.

The Senior Clinical Psychiatrist Oversees all psychiatric service operations for the assertive community treatment team including supervising a psychiatric nurse practitioner, providing direct services, and maintaining a medication room. Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) follows the SAMHSA service delivery model for treatment of adults with persistent mental illness.
The Center for Adult Services (CAS) provides programs and services in Aging; Adult Protective Services; Clinical & Emergency Services; and Community & Residential Support Services for seniors and for persons with mental illness, intellectual disabilities and substance use disorders. CAS provides compassionate and effective person-centered services based on best practices. Our teams support self-determination, safety and recovery for Alexandria residents affected by abuse, neglect, mental illness, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse disorders.
Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as a General Psychiatrist (Diplomate), and possession of a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy Degree; three years of experience in the practice of Psychiatry at the level of Clinical Psychiatrist; satisfactory completion of a residency program in Psychiatry; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of a current, valid license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia; possession of a license of registration with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and be able to hold a National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Possess a valid driver’s license; Board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as Adult Psychiatry. At least three years’ experience in the supervision and administration of an outpatient or inpatient clinical psychiatric service. Bilingual with English/Spanish, French, African or Middle Eastern language skills.
This position requires the successful completion of pre-employment checks to include: FBI/Federal Records; Medicare/Medicaid Database; Commonwealth of Virginia child abuse registry; Education/Certifications Verification; Sheriff's Office clearance, where required, and DMV record and Valid Driver's License.
Part-Time / 20 hours per week. Flexible schedule & hours TBD upon hire.
$59.33 - $115.44 per hour.
