Job summary

Fluidstack is seeking an acoustics specialist to lead noise assessments for gigawatt-scale data center projects. You will develop site-wide noise models, evaluate equipment noise, and propose repeatable mitigation strategies across templates and sites.

The role requires coordinating with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams to ensure compliance with occupational and environmental noise limits, from study through commissioning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of acoustics or noise control engineering on industrial or power facilities.
• Fluency in outdoor sound propagation tools (CadnaA or SoundPLAN) and ISO 9613-2.
• Experience with environmental noise measurement and octave-band calculations.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1910.95 and local industrial noise ordinances.

Responsibilities

• Predict property-line and community noise from template data center designs with hundreds of fans and chillers.
• Quantify the noise of on-site gas generation, transformers, and switchyards in the site model.
• Choose repeatable mitigations such as barriers, silencers, enclosures, and equipment selections.
• Model the sites with outdoor sound propagation models and adapt to sites, terrain, and ordinances.
• Specify barriers and equipment to bring sites within limits with cost and schedule justification.
• Work with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams to integrate noise requirements early.
• Set occupational noise exposure limits for plant areas and verify them at commissioning.
• Produce noise assessments and reports for permitting and community engagement.
