Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking an Acoustics Engineer to join our Los Angeles team. You will perform detailed acoustic analyses, develop noise mitigation strategies, conduct measurements and simulations, and collaborate with architects and engineers to embed acoustics into project designs.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Acoustics (or related field) with 3+ years in acoustic consulting, and proficiency in modeling software.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in acoustic consulting with proven projects.
  • Proficiency in acoustic modeling software and soundproofing techniques.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated Acoustics Engineer to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in developing their technical skills in the field of Acoustics and will contribute to overall project design and delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Provide detailed acoustic analysis and prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations for clients.
  • Analyze and develop noise mitigation strategies for a variety of engineering projects such as roadway, rail and transit, and industrial facilities.
  • Conduct acoustic measurements, modeling, and simulations using industry-standard tools and software.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to integrate acoustic solutions into overall project designs.
  • Stay informed about local building codes, regulations, and standards related to acoustics and noise control.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining client satisfaction.
  • Conduct site visits and oversee the implementation of acoustic solutions during construction phases.
  • Provide technical expertise related to noise control, sound isolation, room acoustics, HVAC noise and vibration control, and environmental noise assessments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Acoustics, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in acoustic consulting, with a proven track record of successfully completed projects.
  • Proficiency in acoustic modeling software
  • Strong knowledge of soundproofing, vibration isolation, and noise control techniques.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with the use of sound and vibration test equipment
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-discipline to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work on a variety of projects concurrently
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills with a continuous mindset on personal and staff development
  • Positive, can-do attitude and a strong work ethic

**Salary Range:** $115,000 - $135,000
