The ideal candidate has acoustical consulting experience for design projects, strong analytical and technical writing skills, and the ability to balance detailed engineering work with collaboration and client communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in acoustics or related field.
  • 2+ years of acoustical consulting experience.
  • Experience with field measurements and data analysis.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong technical writing and communication.
  • Willingness to travel and work on site.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.

Job description

Position Title

Join a specialized acoustical consulting firm where technical expertise, hands-on project work, and meaningful career growth come together. This Acoustician will support architectural and construction projects through field measurements, acoustical calculations and analysis, technical reporting, drawing reviews, modeling, and construction administration. As experience grows, the role offers increased ownership of projects, client relationships, technical decisions, and mentorship opportunities.

The ideal candidate has direct experience in acoustical consulting for construction or design projects, strong analytical and technical writing skills, and the ability to move confidently between detailed engineering work, field environments, and collaborative project teams.

Salary Range

$65,000 - $170,000 annually, DOE

Responsibilities
  • Perform field noise and vibration measurements using acoustical measurement equipment and established field procedures
  • Conduct acoustical calculations, analyze measurement data, and develop practical engineering recommendations
  • Prepare clear, organized technical reports and project documentation that communicate findings, analyses, and recommendations
  • Review architectural drawings and project specifications, supporting acoustical design decisions throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assist with or independently perform environmental and room acoustics modeling, depending on experience level
  • Support construction administration through field observations, submittal reviews, and coordination with project teams
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, and client communication, with project ownership increasing based on experience
  • Contribute to proposals and scopes of work, mentor junior team members, and support technical quality initiatives at more senior levels
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in acoustics, mechanical engineering, another engineering discipline, or a related technical field
  • Approximately 2+ years of directly relevant acoustical consulting experience, with level and responsibilities calibrated to experience
  • Experience supporting acoustical consulting work for architectural, construction, or design projects
  • Hands-on experience with field measurements, acoustical calculations, data analysis, drawing and specification review, and technical reporting
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to perform and clearly communicate technical calculations and analyses
  • Excellent technical writing, organization, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and active job-site environments, including occasional travel and field measurements
  • Proven reliability, accountability, responsiveness to deadlines, and ability to incorporate technical feedback
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or active progress toward PE licensure
  • Experience with CADNA, Odeon, or similar acoustical modeling and simulation software
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam and the ability to navigate or review Revit drawings
  • Experience managing acoustical consulting projects and maintaining direct client relationships
  • Experience mentoring junior staff, reviewing technical work, or contributing to proposals and business development
