The Acoustical Consultant will be a team member in NV5’s architectural acoustics practice, working on projects like classrooms, healthcare facilities, courthouses, conference centers, resorts/casinos, theatres, media production facilities, and broadcast studios. Responsibilities include developing, presenting, and managing solutions related to room acoustics, sound isolation, mechanical system noise and vibration control, and environmental acoustics. The role involves creating drawings, reports, using acoustic modeling software, and performing on-site testing. The candidate must manage multiple projects efficiently, delivering high-quality work.

This position is U.S.-based and allows for work from home, with flexibility in major U.S. markets.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the project design team with a creative, collaborative, evidence-based approach.
  • Collaborate with architectural team members and clients.
  • Develop reports, sketches, drawings, details, cost analyses, and specifications.
  • Analyze acoustic solutions using modeling software.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings.
  • Perform on-site acoustics testing and noise surveys.
  • Conduct on-site inspections of acoustical solutions.
  • Coordinate with principals and marketing for business development.
  • Attend meetings, site visits, and perform testing as needed.
  • Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to high standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5–10 years’ experience in architectural acoustics consulting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in acoustics, audio/music engineering, mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or physics; Master’s preferred.
  • INCE certification is a plus.
  • Expertise in room acoustics, sound isolation, noise and vibration control, and environmental acoustics.
  • Strong technical curiosity and professional development drive.
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Integrity, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in business development is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Revit/BIM, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, Sketch-Up, Ease, and CadnaA is desirable.
  • LEED certification is a plus.
