Job summary

Serco Inc. invites qualified Acoustic Engineer candidates to support the US Navy’s Submarine acoustics program from the Washington Navy Yard area. The role requires active secret clearance, a bachelor’s in engineering or related field, and five years of experience.

You will interact with program leaders, review technical submittals, and lead acoustics reviews with NAVSEA stakeholders. You will co-lead silencing efforts, manage program commitments, and travel up to 10% as needed while briefing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, physics, or related field with 5 years of experience.
  • Excellent communications and analytical skills; able to brief senior leaders.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Active Secret clearance and U.S. Citizenship are required.

Responsibilities

  • Support PMS450 evaluation of proposed designs and arrangements.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of ship specification sections and verify program compliance.
  • Review technical submittals, provide assessments, and consolidate options with pros/cons.
  • Lead Navy program coordination with PMS450 and NAVSEA stakeholders.
  • Assist in de-conflicting technical viewpoints and program constraints.
  • Co-lead NAVSEA Ship's Silencing Working Group and conduct audits/shipchecks.
  • Manage commitment updates/status and coordinate with SITs for issue resolution.
  • Lead technical discussions for project reviews and deliver formal briefings.
  • Act as a liaison with PMS450 team and NAVSEA Technical Warrant Holders.
  • Be primary customer contact for project status and maintain relationships with program leadership.
