Job summary

North State Bank in Raleigh, NC is seeking an ACH Specialist to ensure electronic payments are processed accurately and on time. You will review file activity, process transactions, and maintain compliance with NACHA rules and internal policies while supporting teammates behind the scenes.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or equivalent experience and 2+ years in ACH processing. Proficiency in Excel/Word and strong problem-solving skills are required; AAP certification or willingness

• Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
• Two+ years of ACH processing and electronic payments experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NACHA rules and banking regulations.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills essential.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and Word required.
• AAP certification or willingness to obtain certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review ACH file activity and daily schedules for accuracy.
• Process incoming and outgoing ACH files; ensure timely payments.
• Monitor transactions to mitigate risk and verify regulatory compliance.
• Communicate with offices and partners on returns, changes, and issues.
• Assist with audits, onboarding/offboarding, and third-party registrations.

A Day in the Life of an ACH Specialist

At North State Bank, our ACH Specialists play a critical role in keeping electronic payments moving safely, accurately, and on time. If you enjoy problem solving, attention to detail, regulatory compliance, and supporting teammates behind the scenes, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Your Morning

You begin your day reviewing ACH file activity, processing incoming and outgoing files, and ensuring payments are handled accurately according to daily schedules. You monitor transactions carefully to help mitigate risk and verify that electronic payments are processed in compliance with NACHA rules, banking regulations, and internal policies.

Midday: Supporting Offices and Teams

Throughout the day, you communicate with offices and business partners regarding ACH returns, notifications of change, and payment issues. You research and resolve returns, disputes, and exceptions while providing guidance on ACH processes and best practices.

Behind the Scenes

Much of your work focuses on monitoring activity and maintaining operational controls. You review originator usage, monitor return thresholds and trends, update ACH reporting platforms, support customer onboarding and offboarding, maintain Third-Party Sender registrations, and assist with audits and compliance reviews.

Growing Together

The payments landscape is constantly evolving. You stay current on NACHA operating rules, banking regulations, and industry best practices while collaborating with internal departments to improve efficiency.
