Job summary

Norco Inc. in Boise, Idaho, seeks an Acetylene Plant Operator to safely operate the Acetylene Plant and fill cylinders per procedures. You will start up and shut down the plant, monitor operations, and log required data at intervals.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, can enter data, perform basic math, and communicate clearly with good organization. The role offers $21 per hour plus an ESOP and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Accurately enter data into computers.
• Acquire working knowledge of any software applications necessary to the position.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organization skills.
• Perform basic mathematics calculations.
• Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Previous knowledge of cylinders and gases.

Responsibilities

• Start up and shut down the plant at the beginning or end of the day.
• Operate and monitor the plant during operation.
• Record required information on logs at required time intervals.
• Safely fill Hydrogen, Chemtane, and Propane according to procedures.
• Respond to alarms, assess the problem and initiate corrective action.
• Perform visual inspection on cylinders prior to filling.
• Safely fill acetylene cylinders and perform leak checks on all cylinders.
• Verify labeling is correct and readable on filled cylinders.
• Follow procedures for blowing acetylene cylinders down and getting them ready for re-qualification or maintenance.
• Perform other tasks as assigned or necessary.
