Job summary

UNFPA seeks an Accounts Specialist to strengthen IPSAS compliance, manage monthly to annual closes, and coordinate financial statements and reporting. The role supports ERP enhancements, automation, and capacity building across UNFPA business units.

Reporting to the head of the SRU and under the Finance Branch, the candidate will ensure data quality, liaise with auditors, and implement best practices in financial management and governance.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in accounting/financial reporting or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting/financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of IPSAS or IFRS.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle-based products.

Responsibilities

• Develop IPSAS-compliant policies and guidance; implement updates.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting.
• Liaise with auditors and respond to recommendations; support audit actions.
• Lead second line of defense controls and data quality across SRU.
• Support system enhancements, automation, and capacity building.
