Job summary

A growing accountancy practice based in Wakefield is seeking an AAT-qualified Accounts Senior / Client Accountant. The role includes responsibilities such as personal tax returns, VAT and CIS preparation, and supporting apprentices. Ideal candidates should possess a minimum of 2 years’ practice experience along with strong bookkeeping and communication skills. The position offers a competitive salary based on experience, supportive team dynamics, and development opportunities, with one day of remote work available weekly.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare accounts to trial balance, dividends, and basic corporate tax provisions.
• Complete personal tax returns.
• Prepare VAT and CIS submissions.
• Bookkeeping for diverse clients.
• Support and review Apprentice work.
• Conduct client software training.
• Process AutoEntry.
• Liaise with HMRC.

Location: Wakefield

Hours: Full time, 38 hours per week (1 day WFH available)

Start Date: From January onwards

Salary: Dependent on experience

Our client are a growing Wakefield accountancy practice looking for an AAT-qualified individual with at least 2 years’ practice experience This new role offers a varied mix of bookkeeping, VAT, CIS, accounts prep and personal tax work, along with the chance to support and review our Apprentice.

Responsibilities

• Accounts to trial balance, dividends & basic CT provisions
• Personal tax returns
• VAT & CIS preparation
• Bookkeeping for a range of clients
• Reviewing and supporting Apprentice work
• Client software training
• AutoEntry processing
• Liaising with HMRC

About You

• AAT fully qualified
• 2+ years practice experience
• Confident with bookkeeping, VAT, CIS, and accounts prep
• Good communication and ability to work independently
