Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in business, finance, or related field with 4–6 years of experience or equivalent combination.
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, able to work in an office with many interruptions, and have a strong customer service orientation.
  • PC proficiency using Excel, Word, Kuali Financial System (KFS) or similar software, and mainframe applications; able to retrieve and manipulate data from multiple sources.
  • Must demonstrate ability to handle sensitive and confidential data with discretion.
  • The ability to multitask and work within tight deadlines is required.
  • Strong analytical, logic, organizational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects of varying complexity and urgency.
  • Requires ability to construct complex financial statements understanding inter-relationships of data.
  • Must possess excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Job description

The Opportunity

The Accounts Representative V is responsible for providing comprehensive financial services in support of departmental operations, including the management of appropriated, discretionary, restricted and sponsored funds to 4-H Young Development Program and Cornell University Cooperative Extension NYC. Key responsibilities include financial accounting and transactions, procurement oversight, student appointments, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and stewardship of resources.


This role supports 4-H Youth Development Program and Cornell University Cooperative Extension NYC, offering financial guidance to faculty, researchers, staff, and students. The incumbent conducts proactive and retroactive financial analysis, resolves complex issues, and communicates outcomes clearly and professionally. The position requires a thorough understanding and application of University policies, procedures, the best practices, and plays a critical role in maintaining audit compliance and internal control integrity.

This is a full time (39 hours), benefits eligible position. It is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The hybrid schedule will be determined at the time of hire with the hiring manager. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time. This position is based on the Ithaca, NY Cornell University campus.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/HR or related field preferred with additional familiarity with Cornell University administration, accounting, budget structure, procedures, and policies.

  • Successful completion of Cornell Accounting Certification Program, Cornell Research Administration Certificate, or similar external certification is highly desirable.
