Emergicon LLC in Terrell, TX is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist focused on EMS billing. You will follow up on claims, work with insurance carriers and patients, and help resolve denials to ensure timely payments for Texas EMS agencies.

The role starts with a 90‑day onboarding at our Terrell office, then offers a hybrid or fully remote option for Texas residents. A strong background in medical billing, HIPAA, and familiarity with CMS-1500/837P is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of medical billing or A/R experience.
• Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.
• Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid as applied to fee schedules.
• Able to read EOBs/ERAs and work denials/appeals.
• Familiarity with CMS-1500/837P claims and HCPCS codes.

Responsibilities

• Follow up on claims over 60 days old with focus on timely resolution.
• Work assigned denials and correspondence.
• Check claim status using clearinghouse and insurance portals.
• Prepare corrected claims and appeals.
• Make and take calls with insurance carriers and patients.
• Spot trends in denials and payments and report them to your lead or manager.
• Process refunds according to payer and state requirements.
• Follow HIPAA and applicable state and federal collection laws.

What you'll do

As an Accounts ReceivableSpecialist, you'll follow up on claims so our clients get every dollarthey're owed. You'll work with insurance carriers and patients, spot trends,and help fix problems before they grow.

How you'll work

You'll start in our Terrell, TXoffice for a 90-day onboarding period with hands-on training. After you finishonboarding, you're eligible for hybrid or fully remote work. Remote teammembers must live in Texas.

You'll report to the AccountsReceivable Manager and work closely with teams across the company.

What you'll need

• High school diploma or GED
• [2+] years of medical billing or A/R experience
• Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, andcommercial insurance, including managed care plans
• Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid fee schedules
• Ability to read EOBs and ERAs and to work denials andappeals
• Familiarity with CMS-1500/837P claims, ICD-10 andHCPCS codes, and timely filing limits
• Knowledge of medical terminology and refund processes
• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office,plus experience with medical billing software
• Clear, professional communication with patients,carriers, and coworkers
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to jugglepriorities
• For remote work: high-speed internet and a private,HIPAA-safe workspace

Nice to have

• Ambulance or EMS billing experience
• Experience with Texas Medicaid (TMHP) and NovitasMedicare
• Certification such as CPC, CRCR, or CertifiedAmbulance Coder (CAC)
