Job summary

Wheeler Clinic is seeking an Accounts Receivable Representative for Third Party Billing in Bristol, CT. The role bills commercial payors bi-weekly, applies cash receipts, and collects past due AR while communicating payment matters to the Third Party Billing Manager.

Rate is $22 per hour. This in-office position requires 2–3 years of behavioral health billing/collections experience and a CMA/CBiller designation. Strong MS Office skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Biller/Coder designation required.
• 2–3 years experience in behavioral health billing/collections preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment required.
• Experience with Not-for-Profit organizations preferred.
• Experience with Great Plains Dynamics and NextGen preferred.

Responsibilities

• Electronically submit clean claims to all commercial payors via clearinghouse on a bi-weekly basis.
• Research claims that do not pass through clearinghouse.
• Process paper claims weekly when needed.
• Receive and post checks from commercial payors.
• Manually apply payments to client accounts.
• Research incorrect payments with payors to identify process issues.
• Stay current with bulletins regarding new policies/procedures.
• Ensure Medicaid compliance workbook is completed.
• Post cash payments in NextGen and transfer to accounting for deposit.
• Respond to client and clinician requests by phone or email.
• Process refunds for commercial insurance clients.
• Review client unapplied cash and apply when possible.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounts Receivable Representative for Third Party Billing electronically bills commercial payor client services on a bi-weekly basis, applying cash receipts to client accounts, collecting past due accounts receivable, and identifying and communicating payment matters to the Third Party Billing Manager and others in the organization regarding all commercial payor accounts.

Rate: $22

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent is required plus Certified Medical Biller/Coder designation and 2 - 3 years experience and knowledge of behavioral health billing/collection practices is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving abilities, and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment is also required. Experience working for a Not for Profit and with Great Plains Microsoft Dynamics and NextGen is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Electronically submits clean claims to all commercial payors through clearinghouse on a bi-weekly basis.

Researches claims that do not pass through clearinghouse.

Processes paper claims that cannot be handled electronically on a weekly basis.

Receives and posts checks from commercial payors.

Manually applies payments to client accounts.

Researches incorrect payments with payors to determine what process issues exist.

Stays current with bulletins regarding new policies/procedures.

Ensures the Medicaid compliance monitoring workbook is appropriately completed.

Ensures cash payments are correctly posted in NextGen and transferred to accounting for deposit.

Responds to client and clinician requests by phone or email.

Processes refunds for commercial insurance clients.

Reviews client unapplied cash and applies when possible.
