Overview

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of our Chicago, IL office.

CIT Rail is an industry leader in offering customized leasing and financing solutions and a highly efficient, diversified fleet of railcar assets to freight shippers and carriers throughout North America. CIT maintains one of the youngest, most diversified railcar and locomotive fleets in the industry. We have deep experience in providing attractive railcar leasing and equipment financing solutions to rail shippers and carriers.

As an Accounts Receivable Analyst, you will obtain deep understanding of complex aspects of Rail's collections and invoicing including Railroad payments, casualty payments, maintenance re-bills, and transfers and assumptions. Primarily responsible for the collection of given customer portfolio in accordance with company's collection policies and procedures.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer accounts for past due balances and promptly contact all customers in given portfolio to collect payment.
  • Promptly research and resolve customer payment discrepancies and invoice disputes within reasonable time.
  • Proactively monitor customer accounts for rent and non-rent future invoices to ensure collection by due date.
  • Partner with marketing team to provide real time view and insight into customer's account status.
  • Reconcile customer account details for delayed payments and other irregularities with details and quick resolution.
  • Proactively escalate customer collection activity at appropriate times.
  • Utilize advanced excel skills to analyze customer accounts and transaction detail.
  • Assist with identifying and communicating billing discrepancies for immediate correction.
  • Achieve individual target collection goals.
  • Assist with funds application to customer accounts.
  • Partner internally and externally to improve the order to cash process.
  • Propose improvements in accounts receivable related procedures.
  • Support quarterly and annual account clean up.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Act as backup for other positions in the departments as needed.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with minimum 1 yr. experience

-OR-

High School Diploma or GED with 2 years' experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree area of study in Accounting or Finance
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suites
  • Ability to work independently with some direction.
  • Ability to effectively write business emails and reports.
  • Spanish fluency
  • Accounts receivable experience
  • Rail experience

The base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $60,000 - $72,000 per year.

Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
