Job summary

The Colorado Department of State seeks a results-driven Accounts Payable Technician to join the Finance Team within the Administration Division. You will handle end-to-end AP, vendor management, and ensure compliance with state fiscal rules while supporting AR, travel, and payroll functions.

You will work to maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information and contribute to process improvements. The position emphasizes accuracy, customer service, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years professional experience in accounts payable or related field.
• Option 1 requires 3 years payment processing experience.
• Option 2 requires combined education and experience in accounting/finance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Department’s primary Accounts Payable technician.
• End-to-end AP processing, vendor management, and compliance with State Fiscal Rules.
• Provide structured backup support for AR, travel, and payroll functions.
• Be the primary purchaser for the Department and recommend policy changes to improve processes.
• Maintain confidentiality of all voter and personnel information.
