THE ROLE

Avocado is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our Finance & Accounting team, reporting directly to the Director of Accounting.

This role is responsible for the full-cycle Accounts Payable process and plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving continuous improvement across the procure-to-pay workflow.

A successful candidate will demonstrate strong general accounting knowledge, possess a deep understanding of NetSuite and AP automation systems, and exhibit a proactive approach to process ownership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a highly visible position that requires a passion for operational excellence and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

• Note on Pay Transparency: The pay range for this role is $82,500.00 - $90,000.00 Yearly DOE.
  
  

What You’ll Be Working On

• Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable function, including coaching, mentoring, and developing one direct report.
• Manage end-to-end processing of vendor invoices, with a strong focus on 3-way match and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate general ledger coding and ensure consistent handling of inventory-related purchases and expense transactions.
• Lead or support projects focused on scaling and streamlining the AP function in a high-growth manufacturing environment.
• Ensure timely and accurate payment runs, managing cash flow planning and proper controls around disbursements.
• Review, reconcile, and analyze AP subledgers to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
• Partner cross-functionally with other teams to ensure alignment on purchasing and invoice workflows.
• Support preparation of 1099 filings and compliance with sales and use tax requirements.
• Maintain organized and audit-ready documentation to support internal and external audit needs.
• Contribute to budgeting efforts by helping facilitate accurate and timely reporting of payables activity.
• Perform other related duties as needed in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
  
  

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in general accounting, with a strong focus in Accounts Payable.
• Prior experience supervising or mentoring team members; comfortable with coaching and developing direct reports.
• Strong working knowledge of Oracle NetSuite and AP automation tools.
• Experience with 3-way matching, vendor communication, and resolving invoice discrepancies.
• Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas).
• Understanding of 1099 reporting and tax compliance related to vendor payments.
• Demonstrated ability to own processes, manage cross-functional projects, and drive improvements in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing setting is strongly preferred.
• Clear and effective communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working across departments.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of personal accountability.
• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to work in an on-site, collaborative environment.
