Job summary

The Louisville/Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District is seeking an Accounting professional to handle accounts payable processes, post financial transactions, and monitor aged payables. You will respond to vendor inquiries, assist in annual audit, and help improve internal controls and cross‑functional processes.

Responsibilities include processing invoices, supporting the approval workflow, generating weekly and monthly reports, and backing up related accounting functions as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP; strong oral and written communication; tact and diplomacy; proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office; experience using SAP or similar financial systems; calculator skills; mathematical ability; multitasking; research and analysis; problem solving; precise record keeping; courteous under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Processes invoices from assigned vendors and supports invoice approval workflow.
• Responds to vendor correspondence via mail, email, phone, and statements.
• Researches and analyzes payment inquiries and postings to determine amounts due; provides status updates to vendors.
• Prepares monthly and weekly financial reports (e.g., check run, outstanding invoices, ad hoc requests).
• Assists in departmental and cross-functional process improvements and internal controls.
• Documents policies and procedures; supports annual audit; acts as back-up for non-routine processes.
