Job summary

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to process and reconcile the organization’s AP transactions. You will validate invoices, route them for payment, maintain documentation, and ensure proper coding and approvals.

The role works with internal and external stakeholders, posts AP to the general ledger, runs reconciliations, and supports IRS 1099 processes and monthly accruals. A Bachelor’s degree and three years of AP experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from four-year college in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• Three years’ experience processing accounts payables, including general ledger and month end closing experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Validates and routes invoices through the system in a timely manner.
• Verifies payment requests with proper documentation, account coding, and authorization for payment.
• Maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Posts accounts payable transactions to the General Ledger and reconciles AP subsidiary ledger.
• Generates accounts payable reports and maintains documentation per record retention policies.
• Responds to vendor questions and team members regarding AP invoice statuses and policies.
• Reviews 1099 recipients, obtains W-9s, and handles year‑end IRS reporting.
• Prepares monthly accruals and weekly check files for third-party vendors.
