Job summary

Clayton Homes is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to record, balance, and pay vendor invoices in a busy office environment. This role may perform other administrative tasks as needed to support the accounting team.

Key responsibilities include matching packing slips to invoices, entering data into GL batches, contacting vendors for PODs, and ensuring accurate escrow and freight payments. Strong accuracy and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of clerical accounting experience with at least 6 months of accounts payable experience.
• Knowledge of accounts payable accounting techniques and methods.
• Familiarity with reconciliation techniques, filing procedure, and file maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Match packing slips to invoices for accounts payable.
• Key into GL accounts payable batches and scan (manual code).
• Contact vendors to get POD's or answer questions.
• Invoice homes shipped daily and log in the database.
• Verify Escrow payment.
• Complete conditional lien releases for Escrow payments.
• Call transporters for freight amounts.
• Key in freight for payment to dealer.
• Complete "State Authorization" form for all new dealers.
• Serve as back up for receptionist during lunch and breaks.
• Other duties as assigned, including administrative assistance support to other departments.

Position Summary

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, scanning, filing, and operating standard office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively via telephone, email, and in person. Visual ability to read invoices, financial documents, computer screens, and reports. Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping to retrieve or file documents. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull office materials and files weighing up to 15 pounds. Ability to maintain concentration and accuracy while performing detailed clerical and accounting tasks.

Environmental Requirements

Primarily works in a climate-controlled office environment. Regular exposure to standard office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, telephones, and fax machines. Moderate noise level consistent with a typical business office environment. May have occasional interruptions due to phone calls, visitors, and employee inquiries. Limited exposure to physical hazards; work is generally performed in a safe indoor setting. May occasionally be required to move throughout the facility to communicate with team members or retrieve documentation.
