Job summary

Amazon in Arlington, VA is hiring for an Accounts Payable-focused role within Global Finance Operations Services. You will process payments, analyze vendor data, and drive process improvements using Excel, SQL, and other tools.

The role collaborates with vendors, offshore partners, vendor managers, and internal teams across time zones, including PST. A strong focus on data-driven decisions and ensuring timely, accurate payments is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Accounts Payable experience.
• 3+ years of finance experience.
• 2+ years applying KPIs to analyses.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting/Business or analytical field.
• Knowledge of financial controls and procedures.
• Experience using data to influence business decisions.
• Experience in corporate finance including budgeting/planning, forecasting and reporting.

As part of the Amazon Global Finance Operations Services team, you will support the growth of Amazon FinOps. The candidate will work directly with vendors, offshore partners, vendor managers, and internal stakeholders to coordinate on‑time and accurate payment of invoices. The candidate will participate in dive deep investigations into vendor payment data, drive process improvements, standardize processes, and eliminate root‑cause defects within existing systems. The candidate must possess a strong passion for accountability, setting high standards, raising the bar, and driving results through constant focus on improving existing and future state operations, systems, and processes. They will be able to learn quickly and be willing to experiment with new ideas.

This role is based in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full‑time jobs. This role will support teams across multiple time zones, specifically PST business.

Key job responsibilities

• Understand and execute procure-to-pay processes. Especially, payment processing

• Escalate to leadership key issues that require investigation and immediate resolution.


• Execute continuous process improvements and lead key projects.


• Manage highly ambiguous situations and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of Accounts Payable (AP) experience


• 3+ years of finance experience


• 2+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience


• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)


• Knowledge of financial controls and procedures


• Experience using data to influence business decisions


• Experience in corporate finance including budgeting/planning, forecasting and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience


• Experience in TM1, Data Warehouse and SQL


• Knowledge of standard software including Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL and VBA skills
