The California State University, Fullerton invites applications for the Accounts Payable Analyst (Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt II). This full-time, staff position is located in Fullerton and reports to the Division of Administration and Finance.

The role analyzes and improves Accounts Payable, Travel, and related processes, provides training, and ensures compliance with CSU policies. A bachelor’s degree plus four years of related experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs plus four years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty.
  • Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques.
  • Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Skilled in the research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form and use consultative and facilitation skills to gain consensus.

Department

The Division of Administration and Finance serves as the backbone of the CSUF campus, managing a wide array of operations from maintaining and enhancing university buildings and grounds to providing important business support services. Campus beautification, classroom improvements, and technological advancements, continue to be a priority as we enhance the learning environment and facilities. It is the mission of the Division to provide customer-focused administrative support and steward our physical and financial resources in order to fulfill the university’s mission and support student success. Partnerships with the campus community and its many stakeholders are important in helping our operations provide excellent customer service and results. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Accounts Payable team as the Accounts Payable Analyst (Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Accounts Payable Analyst serves as a functional expert responsible for supporting, analyzing, and improving Accounts Payable, Travel, and related financial systems and business processes. This position oversees system functionality, workflow optimization, compliance monitoring, and operational support for Accounts Payable and Travel programs. Analyzes complex financial transactions, resolves system and processing issues, identifies trends and operational risks, and recommends improvements to enhance efficiency, compliance, and customer service.

The position acts as a liaison between Accounts Payable, Procurement, Travel, eBusiness, Information Technology, Human Resources, and external vendors to support system implementations, upgrades, testing, and issue resolution. Responsibilities include the administration of financial and travel systems, user profile management, workflow configuration, and ensuring the integrity of Accounts Payable and travel-related processes.

Additionally, the Accounts Payable Analyst serves as a subject matter expert providing training, functional support, and guidance to campus departments and Financial Services Support Center staff. The role develops procedures, job aids, and training materials, addresses customer inquiries, and promotes consistent interpretation and application of CSU policies, regulations, and business procedures. Through collaboration, analysis, and continuous process improvement efforts, the position helps ensure accurate financial reporting, operational effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and a high level of customer service across the university. The Accounts Payable Analyst will also serve as a back up to the Business Analyst. Other duties as assigned.

Skilled in the research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems, address them proactively, and develop appropriate recommendations leading to solutions. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form and use consultative and facilitation skills to gain consensus. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or the equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Several years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or Information Technology. Full life cycle Concur implementation experience and/or several years of Concur maintenance experience. Experience with Common Financial System (CFS) and other related software is a plus. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to translate needs and analyze data. Ability to provide excellent customer services to end-users in an inclusive and equitable environment. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.Working experience in higher education or public agencies.
