Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of full-time experience in the preparation and processing of accounting documents and in the maintenance of accounting records, one year at the level of Contra Costa County Account Clerk Advanced.
  • Substitution for Experience: 12 semester or 18 quarter units in accounting can substitute for one year of required experience; additional education may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Cost accounting in government; Workday accounts payable; knowledge of electronic deposit procedures.

We are currently seeking to fill two (2) Accounting Technician vacancies with the Employment and Human Services Department; however, the eligible list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill vacancies in other departments as they arise.
The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time experience in the preparation and processing of accounting documents and in the maintenance of accounting records, one (1) year of which was at the level of Contra Costa County Account Clerk Advanced classification.
Substitution for Experience: Completion of 12 semester or 18 quarter units in accounting from an accredited college or university can be substituted for one year of the required experience; completion of additional education units or a college degree in business administration, finance, accounting, auditing, or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Cost Accounting experience in a government environment
  • Experience processing County accounts payable procedures in Workday or other financial systems (JVs, supplier invoices, ad hoc payments in Workday)
  • Knowledge of electronic deposit procedures and the county’s deposit procedures
Selection Process
  • Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
  • Online Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in the online assessment. The assessment will be conducted to measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. These may include, but are not limited to, writing, attention to detail, and customer focus. (Weighted 100%)
  • Departmental Hiring Interview: TBD
Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an invitation to participate in the selection process.
