Job summary

Georgia-Pacific's GP Recycling in Dothan, AL seeks an Accounting Assistant / Team Lead who will provide accounting support, customer service, and day-to-day team guidance across a range of situations. You will join a 30-person finance team, collaborating with internal partners to ensure accurate bookkeeping and timely issue resolution.

You will lead prioritization, help resolve issues, and drive process improvements while maintaining strong financial discipline in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in accounts payable, invoice processing, or related accounting support.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Excel and Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 experience.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable exceptions
• Research and resolve customer inquiries with timely, accurate support
• Provide day-to-day team lead support by helping prioritize work, answer process questions, and elevate issues when appropriate
• Serve as a point of contact for team members, business partners, and supervisors to support timely issue resolution and consistent execution
• Coach and support team members by sharing knowledge, reinforcing expectations, and helping identify opportunities for growth
• Assist with reconciliations and account balancing
• Partner with internal teams to solve issues and improve processes
• Coordinate team workflows, monitor progress against priorities, and help ensure deadlines and service expectations are met
• Prioritize effectively and adapt to changing business needs
• Apply critical thinking to make sound decisions using prior experience and context
• Work independently to resolve issues with business partners and internal teams
• Seek and share knowledge, identify improvement opportunities, challenge the status quo, and recommend solutions
