Job summary

TEGNA Inc. is seeking an Accounting/Tax Manager to join the NSSC team in Indianapolis, IN. Hybrid schedule with responsibilities spanning month-end close, balance sheets, and indirect tax management.

The role requires 5–10 years of related accounting experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency in US GAAP. Oracle Cloud ERP knowledge is preferred and supervision of 4–6 GL accountants is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related concentration.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP general ledger is preferred.
• Shared service experience is a plus.
• Strong problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
• Analytical and detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate actively in month-end close process by reviewing and analyzing monthly journal entries and reporting documents for TEGNA business units.
• Review and analyze balance sheet accounts and their supporting documentation.
• Management of Indirect Tax work including Audit Engagement/Resolution, Escheatment/Unclaimed Property Review, Real and Personal Property Tax Filing/Payment Review and Sales/Use Tax Filing/Payment Review
• Supervise approximately 4-6 GL Accountants
• Establish and maintain a superior customer service relationship with the sites.
• Review various monthly reports and analysis for internal and external management and audit groups.
• Take initiative on tasks that will result in operational efficiencies.
• Perform other duties as required, including special projects and potentially complete more complex Journal Entries or Balance Sheet Reconciliations.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, review of general ledger transactions, complex balance sheet reconciliations, oversight of Fixed Asset work, management of Indirect Tax work and financial reports for TEGNA business units. The role requires strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills. Has experience in commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within financial reporting and accounting. Utilizes good judgment in maintaining essential job functions through planning, analysis and follow up. Takes initiative on tasks that will result in operational efficiencies. This is a hybrid position.

Requirements

• Good knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
• Strong systems orientation, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Oracle Cloud ERP general ledger knowledge preferred.
• Shared service experience a plus.
