Job summary

The Innovative CPA Group is seeking motivated Accounting/Tax Interns to join our offices in Shelton, CT; Bethel, CT; Hamden, CT; Ridgefield, CT; Norwalk, CT; Worcester, MA; and Venice, FL. The internship runs late January/early February through April 15 and requires a minimum of 20 hours per week.

You will gain hands-on tax preparation experience, exposure to other accounting areas, and collaborate with CPAs in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate or master's in accounting, finance or taxation.
• Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week throughout the internship.
• CPA exam eligibility preferred.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 with a strong academic track record.
• Relevant prior work experience preferred.
• Proficient with computers; knowledge of accounting software is a plus.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple assignments, and work effectively in a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Organize, scan and validate client information for tax return preparation.
• Develop a working knowledge of tax preparation processes and software.
• Shadow team members on special projects to gain insight into firm operations.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
• Stay informed on changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and confidentiality.
• Possible exposure to audit and attest services.
• Participate in additional firm activities and events as assigned.
