Job summary

Journey Advisors + CPAS in the United States is seeking an Accounting & Tax Associate who will prepare monthly financial statements, reconcile bank and general ledger accounts, and support tax return preparation for individuals and businesses. This role emphasizes client relationships, problem solving, and learning new processes, with training provided.

The position is full-time and based at our Grand Rapids, MI or Naperville, IL offices.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Genuine interest in helping small business owners succeed.
• Professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership.
• Openness to learning and feedback, and a desire to keep improving.
• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines.
• Prior experience with client service (a plus, but not required).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements for clients across industries.

Accounting & Tax Associate

At Journey, we help our clients move forward with clarity and confidence—through better financials, smarter tax planning, and thoughtful business advice. As an Associate on our Accounting & Tax team, you’ll play an integral role in helping business owners make sense of their numbers and navigate financial decisions year-round—not just during tax season.

What You’ll Do

What to Expect

• Full time, in-person collaboration at either our Grand Rapids, MI OR Naperville, IL office
• Limited time off during tax season (January 15 – April 15)
• Expectation of 50–55 hours/week during tax season, including some Saturdays
• Occasional travel (1–2 times/year) for conferences, client meetings, or team events
