Job summary

Ports North is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a contract opportunity to support a high-volume corporate accounting team during a critical transition period. This role focuses on month-end close, journal entries, AR, and ongoing SAP S/4HANA stabilization efforts.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, analyze financial results, and contribute to ERP stabilization projects, collaborating with finance colleagues across the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with journal entries and month-end close.
• Hands-on AR accounting and reconciliation experience.
• SAP S/4HANA experience, ideally post-implementation or stabilization.
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation and P&L analysis skills.
• Analytical mindset with ability to research variances and root causes.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Experience using financial reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post complex journal entries and support monthly close activities.
• Manage Accounts Receivable accounting, funding allocations, reimbursements, and related reconciliations.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, P&L analysis, and account variance investigations.
• Support SAP S/4HANA stabilization efforts through testing, validation, and reconciliation of system feeds and subledger-to-ledger activity.
• Analyze financial data using reporting tools and provide insights to leadership.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and support ongoing accounting initiatives.
• Partner with internal stakeholders across finance and accounting functions.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a contract opportunity supporting a high-volume corporate accounting team during a critical transition period. This role will focus heavily on month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, AR accounting, and ongoing SAP S/4HANA stabilization efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in bad debt analysis, reserve accounting, and AR analytics.
• Experience supporting ERP implementations or system stabilization projects.
• Exposure to Business Objects (BOBJ), HFM, SIPS, or similar reporting tools.
• Prior consulting, interim, or project-based accounting experience.
• Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements.
