Job summary

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks an experienced Accounting Clerk Supervisor to oversee a major section of fiscal operations under general supervision. The role focuses on AP performance, financial improvements, and ensuring adherence to internal controls with collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities include leading accounting staff, maintaining accuracy in close processes, and delivering presentations to management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 7 years applicable experience including 2 years in a lead role.
• Experience with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting software; large ERP system experience.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Experience with AI software preferred.

Responsibilities

• AP performance & financial improvement in line with department targets.
• Collaborate with departments to design, develop and implement streamlined processes and internal controls; coordinate with programmers for reports and data entry.
• Audit software usage to ensure compliance and resolve issues with permanent solutions.
• Support financial audits and respond to requests as needed.
• Create and deliver presentations to team and departments.
• Hire, train, and evaluate accounting staff; manage workload and performance.
• Address performance issues and recommend personnel actions.
• Motivate staff including evaluations and promotions within budgets.
• Supervise accounting clerks and ensure proper workload distribution.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of work; verify documentation.
• Resolve problems in team outputs; liaise with major vendors on vouchers.
• Submit jobs and review reports for data validity; make corrections as needed.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
• Maintain procedures and production report statistics.
• Develop and monitor metrics and team performance.
• Manage monthly/yearly close and accruals.
• Review reconciliations for accuracy.
• Provide accounting support to project managers and operations staff.
• Complete various projects as requested by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
