Job summary

Southwest Accounting Resources, Inc in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to lead a small team responsible for core accounting operations, including accounts payable, treasury and banking, fixed assets, prepaid accounts, and month-end close.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on people leader who coaches staff, improves processes, and partners cross-functionally to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required or strongly preferred.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 1-2+ years leading, training, or supervising accounting staff.
• Solid background in AP, GL, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience in multi-site, healthcare, or investor-backed environments is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with accounting software systems.
• Analytical, problem-solving abilities, and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations across AP, banking/treasury, fixed assets, prepaid accounts, and related functions.
• Ensure transactions are GAAP-compliant and align with internal policy.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes with reconciliations and journal entries.
• Review team work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Supervise, train, and mentor staff; assign work and monitor performance.
• Contribute to performance reviews and development plans; drive engagement.
• Support internal controls and assist with audits.
• Identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
• Analyze financial data to spot discrepancies and trends.
• Partner with other departments to resolve accounting issues and streamline workflows.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
