Job summary

Withum, a leading advisory firm, seeks an Accounting Supervisor for our BEA team. The position is hybrid with three days in the office, located in Lincolnshire, IL; New York, NY; East Brunswick, NJ or Whippany, NJ.

You will supervise staff, oversee compilations and reviews, and help clients grow through sound accounting and advisory support. You will guide teams, mentor staff, and partner with cross-functional groups while staying current on accounting standards and tax trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a business-related field required.
• CPA license preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a local or mid-sized CPA firm or tax practice.
• Strong analytical, organizational, project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements, assess risks, and advise on cost reduction, revenue growth and profit maximization.
• Identify bottlenecks, streamline processes, and improve productivity while cutting costs.
• Develop and implement change management plans during organizational changes.
• Supervise, train and support engagement staff and liaise with partners and managers.
• Inspire, mentor and retain staff with challenging assignments.
• Review and supervise preparation of compilation and review level financial statements.
• Collaborate with tax, assurance, accounting and advisory teams to better serve clients.
• Stay current on technical developments and assess impact on client finances.
• Participate in client proposals and identify new business opportunities.

Education

Withum's Business Enterprise Advisors (BEA) team is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to join our Lincolnshire, IL; New York, NY; East Brunswick, NJ or Whippany, NJ office location. This role will be a hybrid-based position (3 days in the office).

How You’ll Spend Your Time:

• Analyzing financial statements, assessing risks, and providing recommendations on cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and profit maximization
• Identifying bottlenecks, streamlining processes, and suggesting improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs
• Developing and implementing change management plans to ensure smooth transitions during organizational changes
• Providing supervision, training and support to the engagement staff and promoting open communication to the engagement partner and manager
• Inspiring, developing, mentoring, and retaining staff while providing challenging assignments
• Reviewing and supervising the preparation of compilation and review level financial statements
• Collaborating cross-functionally with our tax, assurance and accounting, and advisory groups to identify opportunities to fully service the clients
• Remaining current on technical and industry developments and standards, while evaluating the potential impact on clients' business and financial position
• Participating in client proposals and identifying new business development opportunities

The Kind of People We Want to Talk to Have Many of The Following:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a business-related field of study
• CPA license is preferred
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a local or mid-sized CPA firm or a tax consulting practice, food & beverage industry experience is a plus
• Experience working with a high volume of financial statements with tight deadlines
• Strong technical accounting background along with a curiosity and willingness to stay current on all key law changes
• Excellent analytical, organizational, project management, and technical skills
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the Firm well to client's management

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,000-$110,000. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, as well as the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.
