Job Profile

The company is searching for an Accounting Specialist who will perform various accounting process functions for the Credit Union.

Share draft processing, EFT/ACH automated file transactions, wire transfers, and more.

Education Level

• High school Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

• 1-3 years of similar or related experience

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assists branch staff with member account research and adjustments and places branch and ATM cash orders via FedLine.
• Initiates morning processes to include all tasks associated with share draft and check processing, ACH credit and debit exceptions, ACH origination review, share draft and ACH return files.
• Processes accounts payable, reviews for appropriate documentation, corrects the general ledger and approval, researches payment discrepancies, and notifies the supervisor. Ensures recurring payments are processed timely and accurately.
• Processes wire transfers and maintains the wire log; performs OFAC, posts funds to member accounts, and performs journal entries; pulls the daily settlement statement and uploads the daily Verafin file.
• Responsible for debit and credit special ordering, providing provisional credit to members, and reconciling general ledger accounts.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• A good understanding of accounting principles is preferred.
• A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to operate a 10-key calculator and make decisions within policy and procedures.
