Kansas State University’s Kansas Forest Service is seeking an Accounting Specialist to provide financial and administrative support, track funding, support reporting, and ensure information is accurate and properly documented.

You will work with program coordinators to track funding, assist with vouchers, deposits, data entry, and reporting, and help prepare reports and materials to support Kansas Forest Service programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and six months of relevant experience.
  • Experience may be met through a combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include customer service experience, Excel data entry, administrative support, and accuracy in numbers.

Responsibilities

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and performance reporting for Kansas Forest Service programs.
  • Track and verify program funding, expenses, account balances, and other financial information.
  • Review financial data and help ensure expenses are accurate and allowable under policies and funding requirements.
  • Track Kansas Forest Service vehicles and equipment, including expenses, mileage, maintenance, and related records.
  • Assist with payment vouchers, deposits, accounting data entry, and expense reporting.
  • Provide administrative support to KFS programs, including responding to phone calls and assisting visitors in connecting with resources.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, and other materials that support the Kansas Forest Service.

About This Role

As an Accounting Specialist with the Kansas Forest Service, you’ll provide important financial and administrative support that helps our programs operate effectively across Kansas. You’ll work closely with program coordinators to track funding, support reporting, and ensure financial information is accurate and properly documented.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and performance reporting for Kansas Forest Service programs.
  • Track and verify program funding, expenses, account balances, and other financial information.
  • Review financial data and help ensure expenses are accurate and allowable under applicable policies and funding requirements.
  • Track Kansas Forest Service vehicles and equipment, including expenses, mileage, maintenance, and related records.
  • Assist with payment vouchers, deposits, accounting data entry, and expense reporting.
  • Provide administrative support to KFS programs, including responding to phone calls and assisting visitors in connecting with the appropriate resources.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, and other materials that support the work of the Kansas Forest Service.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a high school diploma and six months of relevant experience.

Experience. Requirements May Be Met Through a Combination Of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing professional and courteous service to a variety of clients, customers, or stakeholders.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for data entry, organization, and basic data management.
  • Experience providing administrative support in a professional setting.
  • Experience reviewing and verifying the accuracy of numbers, financial information, or spreadsheets.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range

$14.54 - $21.81 hourly
